About
The Research Centre for Social and Health Care Education (FoCUS) is a research, knowledge-sharing and collaborative community for researchers and education stakeholders with a particular interest in and knowledge of social and health care education.
The Centre is driven by the participants’ shared commitment to contributing to the continued development of education and training for some of Denmark’s largest and most important welfare sectors.
FoCUS grew out of a collaboration between Randers Social and Health Care College, SOSU Østjylland and Aalborg University’s Department of Communication and Psychology and Department of Culture and Learning.
Our Purpose
The purpose of FoCUS is to establish a joint national forum for developing social and health care education as a field of research in its own right and to generate knowledge through collaboration across educational institutions, professional practice and research environments.
FoCUS aims to be an attractive partner in major national and international project applications and to initiate, lead and disseminate high-quality research that makes a significant contribution to the development of social and health care education for the future.
FoCUS also aims to strengthen the knowledge base of social and health care education and the capacity of social and health care colleges to participate in research projects, thereby creating the best possible conditions for learning and development at every level.
FoCUS applies a learning perspective to interdisciplinary collaboration and works to highlight and facilitate learning across organisational contexts and levels, always with a view to building broadly anchored capacity.
We employ a wide range of methods and have a particular interest in collaboration across fields of knowledge and professional practice. Social and health care education prepares students for interdisciplinary work, which calls for research designs that span professional disciplines and organisational contexts.
